St. Pierre and Miquelon are two French isalnds off the coast of Newfoundland.

How French are they? They speak French. They use Euros. They drive Pugeots. They even have a guillotine.

A view of Mary T out in the St. Pierre harbor They named a street after our favorite political satirist.
The surrounding hills are quite barren but the town makes up for it with their colorful houses. Ile aux Marins--an island on the other side of the St. Pierre harbor. It is sort of like a mini Williamsburg, VA.
Some of the houses on Ile aux Marins are used as summer homes. The area between houses was used for drying cod.
The Transpacific wrecked here in 1971. The cemetary on Ile aux Marins
We took a dinghy ride to the other end of the island looking for a picnic site. A mini fjord
We chose this nice rocky beach to enjoy our French style outing including bread, cheese, and wine. Can't get enough of those rocks.
